Friday's Trail Descriptions

Melbourne Magistrate's Court
You will have the opportunity to see justice in action - quite literally! We will meet with a Magistrate [judge] who will explain how the court system operates and you will then have time to sit in a variety of courtrooms & observe the legal proceedings.
It isn't a movie or a TV show - it's very much real life - actions & their consequences playing out before you.

Parliament House
You will have the opportunity to visit Victoria's Parliament House - home to our politicians and a hive of activity in preparation for November's election!
We will be taken on a tour of Parliament - both houses [Upper & Lower] and other key areas. You will also have the opportunity to watch question time - it often looks like a schoolyard argument on the evening news - hopefully, you'll get to see more than theatrics!!

Wednesday Trail Descriptions:
CSI and Justice over time
This trail starts at school and then we will head to the Victoria Police Museum where we will carry out a CSI workshop and examine a typical crime scene. It promises to be lots of fun.
Afterwards, we will step back in time and examine Australia’s most famous bushman, Ned Kelly at State Library.
Following on from this, we will go to state library to discover how prisoners were treated in the past and whether we feel we are improving or disproving as a society in our treatment of criminals.

Fair Food Week trail

We will be exploring themes related to Fair Food Week such as Eat Local, Beyond the Shopping Trolley, Affordable Food for All, Eating Healthily, Fair prices for farmers....Our exploration will take us to Abbottsford Convent to meet with the Melbourne Farmers Market organisers, the Collingwood Childrens Farm vegetable plots & Lentil as Anything.

When home is beyond reach - Youth Homelessness Trail

Is it fair that every night, young people under 25 make up 43% of homeless Australians?

We will delve into some of the considerations that young people at risk of homelessness have to grapple with each day via debate, investigations, conversations with real estate agents and surveying.

The afternoon will be spent with Frontyard Youth Services on King Street for a workshop and a tour of some of the locations around the CBD that become 'home' to young Melbournians.
